We will watch and discuss Episodes 3–6 of American Muslims: A History Revealed, a six-part documentary series that explores the early and often overlooked history of Muslims in the United States.

Whether you are an immigrant, a first-generation American, or a U.S.-born Muslim, this series offers an opportunity to reflect on and better understand our diverse roots, contributions, and identities as American Muslims.

Dr. Zubair Yousif is the Chaplaincy Program Manager for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He is the agency's subject matter expert on Muslim chaplaincy, and on Thursday he is walking through what it actually takes to be hired. The degree requirements. The pastoral experience hours. The endorsement. The entry age ceiling, which almost nobody knows exists and which quietly closes the door on people who wait too long.

He is on alongside four people already doing the work. Chaplain Sondos Kholaki, hospital and police chaplain, author of Musings of a Muslim Chaplain, who also teaches chaplaincy to MDiv students. Abdul Muhaymin Priester III, MA '24, the first Tayba Scholar TISA ever admitted. Arif Rahman, a current TISA student serving as a volunteer chaplain in Hawaii correctional facilities. And Chaplain Nimao Ali, Muslim Chaplain at York University and a current TISA M.Div. student. Javeria Ahmed hosts.

American Muslims: Watch and discuss, A History Revealed is a six-part documentary series that reveals and explores the early history of Muslims in the United States. The films are hosted by journalists Malika Bilal, Aymann Ismail, and Asma Khalid, who travel the country to piece together stories spanning over 200 years.

You are welcome to the showing of the movie, THE MASSAGE (1976),  In accordance with Islamic law, director Moustapha Akkad's biopic of Mohammad never actually depicts the prophet himself, but rather outlines his story through the lives of certain cardinal figures in his life. Abu Sufyan (Michael Ansara), the leader of Mecca, Mohammad's uncle, Hamza (Anthony Quinn), and others chronicle the persecution of the earliest Muslims, their escape to Medina and their eventual victorious return to Mecca under the prophet's leadership.
